It all started with a volunteer design project …
Aqua, a Ph.D., initially researched smart textiles and user experience design. She gained insight into design’s effect on technology interaction but discovered her design knowledge in aiding skilled farmers to market premium tea and traditional medicinal plants. This fulfilling volunteer work revealed the struggles of small-scale farmers and prompted her to leave her 18-year teaching career at Ming Chuan University in Taiwan. Pursuing her enthusiasm for social enterprise, Aqua established 35farm （三五農創）, a company that supports local farmers and promotes their products.
She started her entrepreneurship management diploma training at UC Berkeley in 2019, where she took ceramics classes at the Berkeley Art Studio. Pottery cleverly connected her product design profession and tea agriculture mission. She found that offering beautifully designed ceramics also enhanced the experience of mindful tea art and hopes to provide a true happiness by a tea table with the love ones.
